My Top 10 Favorite Courage the Cowardly Dog Quotes

Greetings from GuardianTree12!

Ah, Courage the Cowardly Dog. When I first watched this show, I didn’t like it. I thought it was gross and a little disturbing for a kid’s show; but after a couple of episodes, it quickly became one of my favorite animated shows. In time, I grew to love its weirdness and I realized that there was more to this show than giant, gross, talking feet (The Clutching Foot, not my favorite episode) and jump scares. It actually had a lot of heart. Take Mother’s Day or The Hunchback of Nowhere for example. It had a lot of great characters, especially Courage (I’ll do a full character analysis on him later), great music, great animation, and most of all great jokes (and the slapstick). The show took risks, but it took its audience seriously, which is more than what most kids’ shows in America do today (cough, cough, Gumball, cough). I encourage you to watch if you haven’t (I recommend Night at the Katz Motel), but for now, I’ll share with you my top 10 favorite Courage the Cowardly Dog quotes.

10.) “The things I do for love!” Courage.

I guess you could call this Courage’s catchphrase. He says this whenever he has to do something to save Muriel or do something that requires a lot of work.

9.) “Ow! What did I do?” Eustace.

Oh Eustace, you know exactly what you did. Whenever Eustace scares Courage, Muriel hits him; then he says this line. Most of the time Eustace is a jerk (he’s like Cartman+Kenny) so I really look forward to him getting hurt all the time. He does have his sympathetic moments though (Mother’s Day and The Curse of Shirley) and a nice theme song.

8.) “Hullabaloo, and howdy doo! Musty prawns, and Timbucktu! Yeltsy-by, and hibbety-hoo! Kick ’em in the dishpan! Hoo hoo hoo!!” Eustace and Courage, The Demon Under the Mattress.

This is the incantation Eustace has to use to free Muriel of the demon possessing her. He ultimately fails so Courage says the incantation, though you can’t understand it. Even though it doesn’t make any sense, this incantation really does work. I use it on the demon that possesses my refrigerator every Tuesday.

fred

That smile…

7.) “Naughty.” Freaky Fred.

I know. It’s not much of a quote, but the way Freaky Fred says this is so creepy yet funny at the same time. His theme song is creepy too, but oh so delightful.

6.) “It would be lovely if I could have a cup… of… TEA!” Demon Muriel, The Demon in the Mattress.

This demon really knows how to mess with people. The buildup to this line is excellent and the payoff is awesome.

5.) “Yes!” Courage

Again, it’s not much of a quote, but the way he says it is just so cute!

4.) “What’s your offer?” Eustace, King Ramses’ Curse.

Sometimes Eustace can be greedy to the point of stupidity (and insanity). In this episode, Courage finds an ancient slab. It turns out that this slab belongs to the deceased King Ramses and he wants it back. The only problem is, Eustace won’t give it back as he thinks it is worth a lot of money (one million dollars to be exact), so King Ramses sends three plagues, each more terrible than the last. At the end of each one, King Ramses says, “Return the slab,” and Eustace answers with, “What’s your offer?” Seriously, Eustace, seriously?

perfect fish

Though I have to wonder, how the hell did a talking fish end up in the Bagges bathtub?

3.) “There’s no such thing as perfect, you’re beautiful as you are, Courage. With all of your imperfections, you can do anything you want to do.” Talking Fish, Perfect.

I think this one speaks for itself.

2.) “Welcome to Katz Motel. I’m Katz.” Night at the Katz Motel.

door

Who knows? Maybe Katz was behind this door.

This is Katz first line. I love Katz. He’s my favorite villain on the show. He’s like Hannibal Lecter except he’s a cat and he doesn’t eat people, as far as I know. He also has a kickass theme song.

1.) And my number one favorite Courage the Cowardly Dog quote is…

What can I say? Courage makes screaming sound good, and every time Courage screams, it shows it in a different way. That’s pretty creative, considering that Courage screams at least five times per episode.

And that’s my list! Hope you enjoyed. Feel free to post your favorite Courage the Cowardly Dog quotes or episodes.

GuardianTree12 out!

Who else wants to see a spin-off of Katz? Just me? Okay then.
